Questions
Each delegate must answer to 2 questions before the committee, which must state their character's position and proposals to solve the issue in discussion. This committee in particular, allows you to be much more creative than others. So, the solutions you will propose are completely up to you! However, remember that they must be viable (explain how you will achieve them) and compatible with your character's policy.
The questions you must answer for the Fantasy Crisis committee are the following:
1. What is your character's perspective regarding the current crisis? Consider your positions regarding the possible creation of the atomic bomb and the threat it poses to Barbieland, the possibility of new government models such as equity, and the US government's role on Barbie Land.
2. How can your character support or prevent Barbieland from being turned into a patriarchy or being destroyed by an atomic bomb or the US government?
Your answer must include your name and country. Example:
Name: Luciana Soto
Character: Barbie
Question number 1: I have lived in Barbieland for the entirety of my life, it is a place where women can be anything they want to be. A perfect world like this should remain unchanged. I strongly oppose the idea of the US government using Barbieland for its own benefit, as well as changing our form of government to a more "egalitarian" one, as it risks becoming patriarchal, a form of government that only brings problems to the world, such as war, the undervaluing of women, especially the atomic bomb, a threat that could completely erase Barbieland from existence. To prevent the introduction of these problems into Barbieland, there must be absolutely no intervention from the outside.
Question number 2: I believe that the unification of all Barbies and Allans is necessary to protect our beloved land, as well as to prevent outsiders from entering Barbieland. However, we must act in the Real World at the same time, keeping an eye on the actions of the U.S. government and the Manhattan program, especially on Mr. Oppenheimer. Us, barbies, have not discarded the possibility of making a revolt against him and his objectives and eliminate the problem at its root.

Character: Barbie
Question 1: As a Barbie, a citizen of Barbieland, I oppose to the use of our land for the nuclear bomb testing and the Manhattan project made by the U.S. goverment. The experimental atomic bombs are going to ruin our land and make it imposible to live there, and we, the Barbies and Allans will not be content with losing our land for these experiments. We are Barbies, we are supposed to bring hapiness and joy to the world, not destruction and sadness. It not only goes against our values, but our wishes. Additionally, if the atomic bombs work out, they will eventually be used and this will cause the death and damage to people and communities.
I also contradict the idea of Ken´s taking all the power over Barbieland. We should live in a safe place where there is equality and freedom, where everyone has the same oportunities and a fair trait. Why can´t Barbies and Kens coexist in a same place? There are no good enough reasons to be enemies.
Question 2: For the Manhattan project, other lands, that are not close to ours, could be use for their experiments, only if it is completely necessary, because the best option will be that this project is eradicated. For Ken’s situation, we can share Barbieland, where there will be equality and freedom. If Ken´s don’t feel comfortable with our proposal, they can find another land where they can live freely and happily.
QUESTION 1: This is me, the Albert Einstein, seen as the genius of my century. I view the current crisis in the Barbieland/Oppenheimer universe with deep concern and a commitment to promoting peace, equity, and progress. I hold a unique perspective on the creation and potential use of the atomic bomb, the exploration of new government models, and the role of the US government in Barbieland.
First and foremost, I recognize the immense destructive power of the atomic bomb. Having been instrumental in the understanding and development of nuclear science, I am acutely aware of the catastrophic consequences it can bring if unleashed. I strongly believe in the urgent need to prevent the use of such weapons, not only in Barbieland but worldwide. I would use my scientific expertise and moral compass to emphasize the perils of nuclear proliferation, advocate for disarmament, and encourage peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
Regarding the possibility of new government models, such as equity, I wholeheartedly support the notion of equality and justice. Drawing from my own experiences as a human-rights advocate, I understand the importance of creating systems that provide equal opportunities and rights for everyone, regardless of gender, race, or any other factor. In Barbieland, I would actively promote societal structures that dismantle patriarchal norms, ensuring that women have a prominent presence in governance and decision-making bodies. I would advocate for policies that uphold gender equality, education for all, and access to economic opportunities, aiming to create a more inclusive and just society.
Concerning the US government’s role in Barbieland, I believe in the significance of open dialogue and diplomacy. I would seek to engage in peaceful negotiations and strengthen diplomatic ties between Barbieland and the US, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation. I would encourage Barbieland’s leaders to establish transparent communication channels and foster collaboration with the US government on matters of mutual interest. However, I would also be vigilant about preserving Barbieland’s sovereignty and ensuring that decisions made reflect the best interests and values of its citizens.
QUESTION 2: I am an honorable man, a renowned physicist and advocate for social justice, I would approach the situation in Barbieland with utmost dedication to peaceful means and the preservation of equality. To prevent Barbieland from being turned into a patriarchy or destroyed by an atomic bomb, I would emphasize the importance of dialogue, education, and diplomacy.
Firstly, I would encourage the inhabitants of Barbieland to actively participate in democratic decision-making processes. Engaging in open forums, debates, and town hall meetings would allow citizens to voice their concerns while promoting inclusivity and shared decision-making. I would stress the significance of equal representation and encourage the establishment of institutions that uphold gender equality, ensuring women play an active role in the government and decision-making bodies.
To prevent the threat of an atomic bomb, I would advocate for disarmament through peaceful negotiations and diplomatic initiatives. Utilizing my scientific knowledge, I would work with experts to demonstrate the catastrophic consequences and long-lasting damage caused by nuclear weapons. Communicating the importance of international treaties, such as the Non-Proliferation Treaty, would be crucial in order to discourage the proliferation of nuclear arms. I would also engage with global leaders, encouraging them to reduce their nuclear arsenals and explore diplomatic solutions to conflicts.
Addressing the potential threat posed by the US government, I would emphasize the significance of dialogue and understanding between Barbieland and the United States. I would advocate for open channels of communication, arranging meetings with government officials, diplomats, and representatives from various organizations to discuss and address concerns. By fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding, we can work towards dispelling misconceptions and creating an atmosphere conducive to collaboration and cooperation.
Furthermore, I would utilize my influence and voice to raise awareness and rally support both within and outside of Barbieland. Through articles, public talks, and engaging with the media, I would emphasize the principles of equality, justice, and peace. By highlighting the potential consequences of a patriarchal society or the destructive nature of atomic weapons, I would aim to unite individuals and organizations across the globe in a joint effort to prevent such outcomes.

Character: Cientific Ken
Question 1: I have lived in Barbieland since I was born, I was always under the oppression of Barbie and all my life I was considered a “nerd” by Barbies and I have only felt company with the kens until now that I have met the scientists from the other world with whom I have seen myself reflected but they have a great position in their world, unlike me here.
My goal is to change all this by supporting the creation of a new government in which all this changes with the support of the other world if it´s necessary.
Question 2: I can support with my knowledge of science and mathematics to rebel against barbies by creating new things.
Talking about the second question, my position is not to let Barbieland become a bomb testing site but instead make a treaty with J. Robert Oppenheimer in which we can support each other and that they support us with their knowledge.
Name: Bianca Cabrera
Character: Aaron Dinkins
Question number 1: I have been in touch with Barbieland’s administration since I started working in Mattel company, however until I discovered there was a fantasy world were the characters that I worked for were alive, I just though of Barbieland as a bunch of work and the real word as a place were I was just an employee without any power or opinion. The use of Barbieland as an object under U.E. government will increase the power of the country, making the difference of power and money between people bigger than before. Nevertheless, if Barbieland is not opressed by U.E. future wars and hostility between countries will be avoided. I do not agree with the possibility of U.E. increasing its power through Barbieland, if Barbieland continues as always, some countries might change their form of government by one with equality no matter gendre, social position, etc.
Question number 2: Regarding my position as a Mattel employee without many power, it is in my possibilities to talk to my workmates so we can suggest projects in favor to Barbieland to our bosses, as well I can make people close to me aware of the concecuences of Barbieland’s opression to make more people know about it.
Name: Gael de los Rios
Character: Cientific Ken
Question number 1: I have lived in Barbieland for as long as I can remember, a place where I have been oppressed and considered a “nerd” and the only ones I have found company with have been Kens. Until now I have seen the position of the scientist in the other world in which I see myself reflected. My goal is to support removing Barbies from the mandate and finding out about the other world and other scientists.
Question 2: I can help with my knowledge in science and mathematics to defeat the Barbies and advance our knowledge of the other world.
I don’t agree with Barbieland becoming a bomb dump so I plan to avoid that by making a treaty with J. Robert Oppenheimer and if necessary supporting a rebellion against them.
Name: Diego Ramirez
Character: Robert J. Oppenheimer
Question Number 1: Drastic times requires drastic measures. That is a line that reperesents my world very well. As the director the “Manhattan Proyect”, I can say that our world has seen enough of the WWII, and that we don’t care what we have to do if it means we can create peace among everyone, that’s why I believe Barbieland would be a very helpful place of the US goverment to have in our property, since it is a brand new unexplored world with different natural resources and environments. However and furthermore, I believe that peace is a reliable option against the innocent, those being in this case, the Barbies and Kens, and we think that we can get into a peaceful agreement very easily, without the spilling of any blood. Due to this, we don’t belive that my bomb would be used unless it is absolutely necessary. I also firmly believe that the US goverment should take care of Barbieland, becasue their world has proven how vunerable their people and ideas can be, putting as an example the “Dictator Ken” and the “Kendom”, who wants to create a patriarchy and has very radical ideas (and that he is somehow obssesed with Uniform
Rectilinear Motion) who must be eliminated if they actually go any further. My plan would simply consist to try and negociate with the Kens and Barbies to become one powerful united land, and would only invade it if negociations are futile.
Question Number 2: I do not support the idea of Barbieland staying like how it is seeing how unstable this world is, neither becoming a patriarchy, especially if it means that a radical person such as Dictator Ken would be the leader of it. However, using our bomb and destroying this place would actually depend of the attitude the Barbies and Kens have towards the “union” of our dimensions. If they concede their world peacefully, there will be not need to destroy it, however, if the case is the opposite, we will not hesitate to end all of ther inhabitants there. We firmly believe that if we need to make something for the greater good, we will take everything that we could do to make it real.
Name: Valentino Roman
Character: Dictator Ken
Question number 1: I’ve been in Barbieland for as long as I can remember, a land where I’ve been under Barbie oppression and slavery, but that’s going to change right now. In my role as dictator Ken, the ken who is going to save the kens from the slavery we are accustomed to, my goal in this debate is not only to save Barbieland from becoming a bomb testing ground but also a new mandate. in which the Kens have an advantage over the Barbies, taking as an example the presidency of the United States where no woman has assumed the position of president. Speaking about the interest of the United States in destroying our home, first, I am completely opposed to this idea, almost as much as to the current matriarchy, apart from the fact that in that world there are many more problems than here and to avoid the introduction of these problems in Barbieland, the dictator has decided that there should be absolutely no intervention from the outside.
Question number 2: For the first question, my goal is to turn Barbieland into a patriarchy, this is because the Kens have lived under slavery all their lives, and that is why we are planning a revolution for a new reign of the patriarchy, I can contribute because I am important and I can make the other kens feel the same!
Speaking of the second question, my position is clear, I don’t want my beloved Barbieland (future Kendom) to become a bomb testing ground, so Ken plans to keep an eye on both Oppenheimer and his team, and if they treat us to do something, start a rebellion, all to eliminate the problem from the beginning and frustrate its objectives
Name: Vannia Chávez
Character: Richard Feynman
Question number 1: I am currently involved in the Manhattan Project, helping to try and create potentially the most revolutionary invention ever made. The lands of Barbieland could help our team to test this weapon in a safer way and develop it faster than the Russians. This would help humanity and Barbies alike, allowing us to keep both worlds safe.
Question number 2: Security measures would be imposed in order to prevent casualties from happening, both material and organic; and the instructions and formula on how to create an atomic bomb would be shared with Barbies to ensure their safety. The changes that would be imposed in Barbieland’s form of government, would ensure equality between Barbies and Kens, without compromising the right of the Barbies in the process.
